A tradition of academic excellence which began over a century ago continues today in the Henderson Independent School District.

The district, which extends some 380 square miles, has seven campuses weaving some 3,800 students in grades pre-kindergarten through twelve. HISD buses travel over 2,000 miles daily. Some 542 people are employed by the district, making it Rusk County's second largest employer.
